Product Description

Restore your engine's performance with this high-quality replacement boost pressure sensor, designed as a direct bolt-on replacement for Volvo Penta 881708.

This sensor measures the engine's turbocharger boost pressure and sends a precise signal to the ECU, allowing it to calculate the correct fuel delivery based on turbocharger boost pressure. Accurate boost pressure measurement is essential for proper engine performance, turbo operation, and fuel control.

Common Symptoms of a Faulty Boost Pressure Sensor

A failing boost pressure sensor can cause a variety of performance issues, including:

  • Significant loss of engine power
  • Engine will not reach full RPM under load
  • Poor acceleration
  • Compressor clutch on KAD44/KAD300 engines repeatedly engaging and disengaging
  • Unstable idle or fluctuating engine speed
  • Engine refusing to rev properly under load

On Volvo Penta KAD44 and KAD300 engines, the mechanical supercharger can still produce boost pressure even if the sensor has failed. However, if the ECU receives an incorrect signal, it will not inject sufficient fuel to spool up the turbocharger, preventing the engine from developing full boost pressure and power.

Important: These symptoms are very similar to those of a worn or damaged turbocharger. Before replacing components, proper diagnosis is recommended to determine the actual cause.

Compatible Volvo Penta Marine Engines

This boost pressure sensor is commonly found on Volvo Penta KAD44 and KAD300 engines, but is also used on several TAMD74 and TAMD75 models.

On these engines, the sensor is typically located in the ECU housing near the oil filter bracket.

Compatible engine models including:

  • KAD44P
  • KAD44P-A
  • KAD44P-B
  • KAD44P-C
  • KAMD44P-A
  • KAMD44P-B
  • KAMD44P-C
  • KAD300-A
  • TAMD74C-A
  • TAMD74C-B
  • TAMD74L-A
  • TAMD74L-B
  • TAMD74P-A
  • TAMD74P-B
  • TAMD75P-A
  • MS25A
  • MS24A-A
  • MS25L

This sensor is manufactured to meet or exceed the performance of the original equipment sensor while offering dependable operation and easy installation.

Key specifications:

  • Accuracy: ±1% typical, ±2% maximum over the entire measuring range
  • Operating temperature: -40°C to +135°C
  • Measuring range: 0-6 bar
  • Wide operating supply voltage range
  • Original Volvo Penta specification: 4.75-5.25 V reference voltage
  • Improved internal electronics provide a stable output signal even if the 5 V supply voltage fluctuates, unlike early OEM sensor versions
  • Maximum safe operating pressure: 10 bar
  • Burst pressure: 100 bar

Designed for demanding marine environments, this sensor delivers reliable long-term performance and accurate engine management.
